Taken from the LP ‘California Dreamin’ | (K-Tel NE 1126) 1981
I’m not sure who would be interested in buying this kind of compilation in 1981, but there must have been some demand for budget label, K-Tel, to rustle up eighteen tracks for their ‘California Dreamin’ LP set.
All of the music is of course outstanding and were decent sized hits for the artists when originally released in the mid to late sixties and early seventies.
It’s not all American music though, there are tracks by English groups The Flowerpot Men, Twice As Much, The Small Faces, Donovan and Chris Farlowe.
I had no reason to buy this record from the charity shop apart from saving it from an unhappy end e.g. landfill. But I handed over my £3 because I’d never heard “Summer Breeze” by Seals & Croft or “Dance With Me” by Orleans.
