Taken from the LP ‘Smash Hits ’72’ | (Music For Pleasure MFP 50048) 1972
The series of ‘Hot Hits‘, continued with an end of year round-up with seven of the twelve numbers brand new recordings. The compilation was given a slightly different title of ‘Smash Hits ’72’.
Kung-Fu was all the rage in ’72 so the ‘Hot Hits’ crew needed an LP cover to reflect this craze. So they paid good money for a local blonde dollybird to don the latest martial arts gear and fling her legs about like there’s no tomorrow. What a lass!
Cover versions include “Popcorn”, by Hot Butter, bonehead rock “Mama Weer All Crazee Now”, by Slade, a vocal harmony number “Beg, Steal Or Borrow” by the New Seekers and “Metal Guru”, by T. Rex.
I’m plumping for the smooth commercial ballad “Could It Be Forever” which reached No. 2 in the British Charts for David Cassidy.
