Taken from the LP ‘Smash Hits ’73’ | (Music For Pleasure MFP 50097) 1973
The series of ‘Hot Hits‘, continued with an end of year round-up with only three of the twelve numbers brand new recordings. The compilation was given a slightly different title of ‘Smash Hits ’73’.
Back in 1973 it was quite normal to find a nude blonde dollybird raking around someone’s record collection. Lots of 45s lying spread out on the floor, without their covers, is not advisable.
But in some ways the psychotic-looking page three model made up for it. What a lass!
Cover versions include “Killing Me Softly With His Song”, by Roberta Flack, soul pop “Touch Me In The Morning”, by Diana Ross, the mournful ballad “Yesterday Once More” by the Carpenters and “Live And Let Die”, by Wings.
I’m plumping for the put-down number “You’re So Vain” which reached No. 3 in the British Charts for Carly Simon.
