TEN YEARS AFTER

Ten Years After | “Going To Try” | (Decca)

Taken from the LP ‘The World Of Blues Power, Volume 2’ | (Decca Records PA 63) 1970

Finding such a way-out record in a charity shop is rare so you can imagine my surprise at finding this potent blues LP nestling on a shelf between Perry Como and James Last albums.

What we have here is a collection of some hard to find late ’60s blues-rock classics pairing Chicago blues artists Shakey Horton, Homesick James, Eddie Boyd, Robert Nighthawk and Champion Jack Dupree with British ‘blues-rockers’ Savoy Brown, John Mayall, Ten Years After and Keef Hartley.

The flow of the disc is fabulous from start to finish, all in glorious monophonic recordings. I was genuinely lucky to be in the right place at the right time to secure such a solid and formidable LP.
