A Selection of Tracks taken from the LP ‘The Persuaders!’ | (CBS 64816) 1972
John Barry | ‘The Persuaders!’ | (CBS) | Knights errant have, and always will have, romantic appeal. So when a couple of very modern knights errant are played by Tony Curtis and Roger Moore – as Danny Wilde and Lord Brett Sinclair respectively – you have an irresistible combination in ITC’s “THE PERSUADES!” television series.
Danny is a self-made millionaire from the New York slums; Brett a born-to-caviar British aristocrat. Brought together by a retired judge to become his instruments in righting wrongs which are beyond the reach of the law, the reluctant heroes are drawn into a new life of danger and adventure – different, perhaps, to the luxury to which they are accustomed but still in the glittering world of wealth and beautiful girls, with excitement hand-in-hand with exuberant comedy. John K. Newnham.
John Barry is one of today’s most successful composers of motion picture and television theme music. The James Bond spy thrillers have already benefited from Barry’s exciting music, as well as many other major movie and TV hits, represented in this album.

Barry’s talent, however, does not stop there. He is also a superb arranger and a gifted conductor. It is in these three specialist capacities – as composer, arranger and conductor – that he is heard in this fascinating collection of some of the most provocative music being written today.
Not so long ago, Barry was leading his own instrumental group in London. As THE JOHN BARRY SEVEN he first came to the public acclaim. It was not long after that he was called upon to score the music for the first James Bond movie, “Dr. No,” and compose, arrange and conduct music for its three successors, “From Russia With Love”, “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball”.
Assignments for other films, for the stage and television, quickly followed. The last but by no means the least, is the theme for the top-rated television programme “The Persuaders!”, starring Roger Moore and Tony Curtis.
