Taken from the LP “The Sound Of Summer” on (K-tel ONE 1365) 1987
The Regents | Hey Little Cobra |(K-tel) | Now then, here’s a very impressive LP compilation of Surf and Doowop hits from the early to mid-sixties by the likes of the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, the Hondells, the Surfaris, the Chantays and others.
I can’t really knock the music on this record in any way . . . it’s all great stuff. I was a Barracudas fan when they were releasing their obscure surf-punk blasts back 1979/80 so, of course, this kind of material is completely my bag.
The Regents | Hey Little Cobra |(K-tel)
There are even a couple of tracks included here that are new to me, including my LP choice my the Regents . . . . a song about their Cobra beach car. Let it growl boys.
Some of the tracks are pure pop and stand out on their own merits, and I’m talking about the lovely orchestrated harmony pop of “A Summer Song” by Chad & Jeremy.
Most definitely a compilation to look out for when your scavenging for junked records in charity shops.
