Taken from the LP ‘The World Of James Bond Adventure’ | (Decca SPA 158) 1971
I’d never heard of Roland Shaw before I rescued this LP from a local charity shop but checking his Wikipedia page it reveals that old Roland was an RAF pilot in WW2.
After the War he got his instruments out of the wardrobe and started earning a living as a musical arranger and producer. This meant he was often up to his elbows in trombones, clarinets and violins.
He also earned a recording contract with London Records, then Decca to recreate spy music from movies.
He specialised in groovy James Bond instrumentals from the 1960s and successfully led his Orchestra for many years.
