Exploring David Soul’s Country Vibes in ‘Bird On A Wire’ | As the blond half of Starsky and Hutch, David Soul might find some small measure of success with his music. He doesn’t claim to be trying anything more ambitious than MOR, so on that level, he succeeds.

Any greater kickback could only be thanks to his TV series. On the whole, the songs are fairly easy to get along with; nice dreamy country numbers to fantasise by.

I wish he hadn’t tried “Bird On The Wire”, it’s too heavy and emotional for him. I also felt he hadn’t let go as much as he could have, but that’s just experience. (Record Mirror, 13/11/76)
